LearnShare Member Case History Successes
Owens Corning IT Course
Owens Corning needed a half-day course on feedback performance skills for 250 information technology managers. Within two days LearnShare recommended four courses from its extensive portfolio of training and development programs. Using one course as a base and portions of another two, Owens Corning created an instructor-led program ideally suited to its needs. The course debuted three weeks later, received high participant ratings, and is now used in other areas of the company. Spared from licensing and other participant fees, Owens Corning reduced training cycle times and saved more than $60,000 in vendor fees.
Northwest Airlines e-Commerce Training
Northwest Airlines changed procurement procedures from traditional transactional purchasing for preferred vendors to an online e-commerce exchange. The company needed to train personnel in unfamiliar purchasing procedures associated with the new system. LearnShare developed two courses that Northwest packaged into a toolkit for approximately 1,000 managers and supervisors. Northwest saved over $100,000 in design, licensing, and consultant fees by using LearnShare to develop these courses.
John Deere Instant Review Process
John Deere had been relying on a select group of managers to conduct annual employee assessments. The company decided to include all supervisors and managers in the process, and sought a best practices training program as a guide to conducting year-end performance reviews. Deere distributed a request to LearnShare members, and a day later received a detailed workbook from Eaton Corporation. This document proved essential in helping Deere prepare its management team in time to conduct year-end reviews.
Eaton Lean Manufacturing Web Portal
Eaton Corporation was one of the early adopters of lean manufacturing in the U. S. Over the years, the company established a set of technical and non-technical skills that became core competency requirements for every production coordinator in its worldwide plants. Working with LearnShare and THINQ, an e-learning provider, Eaton created a Web-based training program based on these fundamental skills. The site also provides a training roadmap to performance improvement. Manufacturing coordinators in need of added training in specific areas use a portal to LearnShare and THINQ training and education resources to take related courses that enhance their competency.
Levi Strauss Learning Management System
Levi Strauss was creating a learning management system and asked LearnShare and the membership for guidance. LearnShare arranged a teleconference involving Pilkington, Eaton Corporation, and Deere & Co. These three companies had created learning management systems, and were well schooled in the process. The conference covered vendor and production selection, due diligence, accelerated requirement analysis, and other topics critical to successful creation of a productive LMS. Levi Strauss adopted many of the ideas provided during this conference when establishing its system.
