LearnShare Consortium Saving Millions for 44 Fortune 500 Company Members
A consortium of 44 Fortune 500 companies is saving members millions of dollars through reduced vendor costs, flexible and comprehensive learning management systems, and the sharing of best practices and proprietary research.
Called LearnShare and headquartered in Toledo, Ohio, the consortium leverages the intellectual capital and purchasing power of its member firms to create Web-based training and development programs at prices individual companies cannot match on their own.
"LearnShare is changing the ways companies research, design, purchase, package, and deliver training and development programs at all levels," said Lois Webster, president and chief executive officer of LearnShare. "We serve as a solutions center and strategic and tactical problem solver for members, providing a portal to learning resources and world-class partners."
LearnShare serves as a first-level clearinghouse for vendor and course provider selection, using the collective bargaining strength of the companies it serves.
"We identify, qualify, retain, and closely monitor training suppliers, helping members select the best courses and entire curricula tailored to their business objectives," Webster said. "Members pay only for courses used by individual employees, unlike other companies that must commit to costly, long-term vendor contracts.
LearnShare also develops customized learning management systems for members, each based on their specific learning processes and corporate practices. These systems are either integrated into a member's existing training and development programs, or LearnShare serves as a central hosting platform for a company's entire e-learning curricula.
LearnShare also is a repository of best practices and creative solutions, providing a pool of knowledge and proven systems to enhance and extend member training and development programs. The consortium manages the entire process through benchmarking sessions, conferences, and online seminars and teleconferences in which members participate.
Member companies also share research results and success stories and post questions online that receive responses within 48 hours.
